“Shooting near England World Cup base injures nine”

Nine individuals have been hospitalized after a shooting incident occurred near the England national soccer team’s World Cup training base in Kansas City, Missouri. The incident took place on Troost Avenue, close to the team’s training facility and designated hotel for the tournament. The victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries, with three of them being women.

According to Kansas City Police Department captain Jake Becchina, law enforcement responded to reports of gunfire around 4 am CDT on Saturday. Upon arrival, officers encountered a large group dispersing from the scene. In addition to the three women taken to hospitals, six other adults sought medical attention for non-life-threatening injuries at local medical facilities.

As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting, and police continue to monitor the area. Meanwhile, the England team is currently in Palm Beach, Florida, undergoing preparations for the upcoming World Cup. They are expected to travel to their Kansas City base soon to commence their campaign against Croatia on June 17, followed by matches against Ghana and Panama in Group L.
