Two teenagers are in critical condition in the hospital after a serious collision. The incident involved a black Ford Fiesta and a silver Toyota Corolla on Saltburn Lane, leading to the closure of the road between Saltburn and Skelton for several hours on June 6th. Emergency services were called at 4.45 pm to respond to the crash.
Although two air ambulances were dispatched, all six injured individuals were eventually taken to the hospital by road. The 17-year-old driver of the Ford Fiesta and a 17-year-old rear passenger sustained life-threatening injuries. Additionally, a 15-year-old boy in the back of the vehicle suffered a broken leg, multiple lacerations, and shock, while an 18-year-old man in the front passenger seat was treated for cuts and shock.
On the other vehicle, the Toyota Corolla, the driver and passenger escaped with minor injuries and shock. Both were transported to the hospital for further evaluation. The Great North Air Ambulance Service deployed a critical care team to the scene, working in collaboration with the North East Ambulance Service to assess and treat the injured parties.
Five ambulance crews, along with a specialist paramedic and other medical staff, responded to the crash site, providing immediate treatment before transferring the patients to the hospital for further care.
