“Deadly Crash on Scottish Road Claims One Life”

A fatal accident near a scenic Scottish town has resulted in the death of one man and left two others with serious injuries. The crash occurred on Saturday evening around 7:35 pm on the A709 Dumfries to Lockerbie road, close to Lochfield, Lochmaben.

Authorities are seeking witnesses who may have information about the collision involving a black Vauxhall Vectra and a white Citroen Dispatch. Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene and transported the three individuals involved to the hospital for medical care.

Regrettably, the Vauxhall driver, a 50-year-old male, passed away shortly after the incident. The occupants of the Citroen, a 67-year-old man, and a 55-year-old woman, are currently hospitalized in critical condition.

Following the accident, the road was shut down for approximately eight hours to facilitate investigations and was reopened around 3:30 am on Sunday.

Sergeant Wayne Carnochan of Police Scotland expressed condolences to the deceased man’s family and emphasized the ongoing efforts to determine the crash’s circumstances. Authorities urge anyone who witnessed the incident or possesses relevant dash-cam footage to come forward and assist in the investigation.
