SunExpress, a prominent airline, has announced the cancellation of flights from the UK to three popular holiday destinations. The decision to suspend four routes to Turkey for the summer 2026 season is attributed to “ongoing geopolitical developments” and the escalating price of jet fuel.
The affected routes include Manchester to Bodrum, Leeds Bradford to Antalya, and Glasgow to both Dalaman and Antalya. Flights on these routes have been halted for sale. However, travelers planning to visit Turkey still have alternative routes available. SunExpress continues to operate flights to Antalya from various UK airports and to Dalaman from selected UK cities.
Regrettably, SunExpress will not offer a UK to Bodrum service this summer. A spokesperson for the airline mentioned that the aviation industry faces significant cost increases, mainly due to rising jet fuel prices, in a volatile environment. The airline is focusing on enhancing fuel efficiency and optimizing flight operations in response.
The suspension of services from Glasgow and Leeds Bradford, along with the Manchester to Bodrum route, is temporary. SunExpress expressed regret for any inconvenience caused and assured UK travelers of ongoing flight options to Turkey from various UK airports.
The airline has not provided a specific timeline for when the suspended services might resume but promises to share updates as soon as more information becomes available. This development follows British Airways’ decision to delay the resumption of flights to Dubai and other Middle Eastern destinations until at least October, two months later than initially planned.
British Airways had previously announced flight reductions to key Middle East destinations following the Iran war. Flights to Dubai, Doha, and Tel Aviv were scheduled to restart in July but are now postponed due to ongoing conflicts in the region. Flights to Dubai, Tel Aviv, Bahrain, and Amman are now expected to resume after the summer season, with a proposed restart date of October 25.
