Three More Charged in Southampton Unrest

Three additional individuals have been formally accused in connection with the unrest during demonstrations in Southampton following the tragic death of 18-year-old Henry Nowak.

According to Hampshire Police, Connor Bishop, 24, residing on Oxford Street in Southampton, Reece Robinson, 21, from Soberton Road in Havant, and Noah Etherington, 18, from Rowbury Road in Havant, have been charged with violent disorder. They are scheduled to appear at Southampton Magistrates’ Court on Friday morning.

This development follows the court appearance of Matt Styler and Daniel Frost on Thursday, where Frost, 44, admitted to charges of violent disorder and possession of an offensive weapon, while Styler, 50, denied charges of assaulting a police officer.

The protests erupted in Southampton after the release of footage from police body-worn cameras showing the moments leading to Mr. Nowak’s fatal injury.

Vickrum Digwa, 23, was sentenced to life imprisonment on Monday for the murder of the student in Southampton on December 3, 2025, using what was described in court as a “Sikh dagger.” Mr. Nowak was attacked while walking home alone after a night out with his football teammates.

Following the stabbing, Digwa misled officers at the scene, falsely claiming he was a victim of a racist assault, which led to Mr. Nowak’s arrest. Despite Mr. Nowak’s repeated statements that he had been stabbed, an officer dismissed his claims at the time.

The case prompted widespread public outrage regarding the treatment of the victim by the police and sparked discussions about religious exceptions for carrying bladed instruments. Hundreds gathered outside Southampton Central Police Station on Tuesday, displaying ‘Unite the Kingdom’ flags and listening to speeches from figures like far-right activist Tommy Robinson (real name Stephen Yaxley-Lennon) and others.
