Meghan Markle has commemorated Princess Lilibet’s fifth birthday by sharing two endearing unseen photos. The images, posted on the Duchess of Sussex’s social media, capture Prince Harry cradling their daughter, while Meghan gazes lovingly at them. Lilibet is dressed in a white lace outfit, her long hair cascading with bare feet, and her face partially hidden, a technique often used by Meghan in previous online photos of her children.
Additionally, Meghan posted a second photo of Lilibet in their garden, where the youngster is seen touching a purple flower while standing barefoot on the grass. The post was accompanied by a heartfelt caption from Meghan, referring to Lilibet as “Our dream girl” and wishing her a happy 5th birthday.
Lilibet, affectionately known as Lili, is the youngest daughter of Prince Harry and Meghan, born on June 4, 2021, in California. Her name, Lilibet Diana, pays tribute to her great-grandmother, the late Queen, and her grandmother, Princess Diana. Currently seventh in line to the throne, Lili, unlike her brother Archie, has only visited the UK once and has never resided there permanently.
The use of the titles prince and princess for Archie and Lili began after the princess’s christening in 2023, following discussions with Charles. Lili, who appears to have inherited her father’s red hair, has met her grandfather, the King, only once during a visit to the UK in 2022. This visit coincided with the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, where Harry and Meghan celebrated Lilibet’s first birthday at Frogmore Cottage.
Royal expert Duncan Larcombe notes that Lilibet’s birthday sheds light on the strained relationship between the King and Prince Harry. He suggests that King Charles regrets the situation and values his role as a grandparent. Last year, Harry and Meghan marked Lilibet’s birthday by sharing photos of her as a baby with both parents.
In a playful gesture, Meghan also posted a video of herself and Harry dancing in the hospital while awaiting Lilibet’s birth, as she was overdue. The Duke and Duchess continue to share glimpses of their family life with their followers on social media.
