North Korean leader Kim Jong-un urged workers at a newly established nuclear production plant to expedite the production of atomic weapons to enhance the country’s arsenal. Kim was seen inspecting the facility and giving guidance to officials and experts, expressing satisfaction and urging an increase in production.
Accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Munitions Industry and the Nuclear Weapons Research Institute, Kim toured production lines, reviewed projects, and interacted with workers to acknowledge the nation’s advancements in nuclear technology. He highlighted that the plant had doubled its weapons-grade nuclear material production compared to the past five years and urged workers to further boost output.
Kim announced plans to significantly enhance the national nuclear force, attributing the current nuclear capabilities to the dedication of North Korean scientists over the past five years. Emphasizing the importance of expanding the arsenal as a deterrent against potential threats, he stressed its role in safeguarding the country’s security, interests, and development rights.
Describing the expansion as crucial for countering adversaries, Kim emphasized the need to strengthen the arsenal for long-term confrontations. His visit to the operational nuclear facility followed North Korea’s recent missile test into the ocean, with South Korean military reporting the launch of an unidentified projectile off the peninsula’s west coast. This marked the North’s latest weapons test in the year, following previous launches in April and May.
