The father of a murdered woman is tormented by the realization that he unknowingly permitted her killer to be near her body during her wake, deceived by the killer’s deceptive behavior.
Before Christmas in 2022, Natalie McNally, a pregnant woman in her 15th week, was tragically murdered by her boyfriend, Stephen McCullagh, at their residence. McCullagh, a YouTuber with a substantial following, staged a false livestream titled ‘Violent Night’ while he carried out the heinous act.
Despite pleading not guilty, McCullagh was found guilty of Natalie’s murder and has been sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 31 years. The judge described the crime as a “brutal and senseless murder” that was meticulously planned and executed with excessive violence.
In the aftermath of Natalie’s death, her family unwittingly extended compassion and support to McCullagh, allowing him to spend time alone with Natalie’s body at a wake held at their home. McCullagh, who had been cleared as a suspect by Christmas Eve, took advantage of the family’s kindness, even displaying a photo of Natalie’s unborn child to further his deceit.
The truth eventually surfaced during the trial, revealing McCullagh’s betrayal and the pain he caused Natalie’s family. McCullagh’s placement in the hospital wing at Maghaberry Prison due to safety concerns reflects the dangers he faces from other inmates for his heinous crime.
