Princess Kate is set to attend a significant cancer research event in London this evening alongside King Charles and Queen Camilla. Kensington Palace confirmed that the Princess of Wales will be joining the monarch at a special gathering in honor of Cancer Research UK at St James’ Palace in London.
The event, hosted by King Charles as the patron of Cancer Research UK, commemorates the organization’s 125th anniversary. It will bring together senior royals with researchers, clinicians, volunteers, and partners engaged in cancer prevention, diagnosis, and treatment.
In addition to Charles, Camilla, and Kate, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester will also be present, with the duke serving as a joint president of the charity. Both Charles and Kate faced undisclosed cancer diagnoses in 2024, with Kate currently in remission while the King continues his treatment.
Kate’s cancer diagnosis occurred early in 2024, leading to chemotherapy treatment. She confirmed her remission status 16 months ago in January 2025. She openly discussed her journey to recovery in a World Cancer Day message in February 2026, highlighting the emotional challenges and triumphs along the way.
Following her remission announcement, the Princess of Wales gradually resumed her royal duties, including a recent solo visit to Italy as part of her early years initiatives. This international engagement marked a significant moment in her post-cancer recovery journey.
Despite ongoing cancer treatment, King Charles maintains a busy schedule, recently completing a successful state visit to the US. Buckingham Palace reported positive responses to his medical care, allowing for a reduced schedule starting in 2026.
Cancer Research UK has played a pivotal role in advancing cancer research and clinical care, leading to improved survival rates over the past decades. The charity emphasized the significant progress in cancer survival rates in the UK due to advancements in research and medical care.
