Families Urge Caution After Tragic Water Incidents

The family of a man who passed away following an incident in a river is advising caution to the public. Greg Howes, aged 44, was discovered by rescue divers in the River Yare in Surlingham on the Norfolk Broads. Emergency responders arrived at the scene on Friday afternoon and continued their search overnight. In a heartfelt tribute, his family described him as a cherished member who enjoyed spending time in the area.

During this difficult period, the family is emphasizing the importance of safety when engaging in water activities on the Broads. Neil Mason expressed his deep sorrow in a Facebook post, commemorating his long-time friend Greg Howes and the cherished memories they shared.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident on Thursday, the loved ones of a teenager who tragically lost his life at Bracklinn Falls in Perthshire paid tribute to the young boy. Charlie Noble, aged 16, was recovered from the water, prompting an outpouring of condolences from friends and family. Authorities were alerted about the situation after receiving reports of concern for an individual around 6:45 pm.

Tragically, a 13-year-old girl became the 17th victim of water-related incidents since the recent heatwave began. This unfortunate event has reignited warnings about the dangers of open water swimming. The girl, unnamed, went missing in the River Wharfe near Skipton, prompting a search and rescue operation. Despite being airlifted to the hospital, she succumbed to her injuries.

Additionally, a woman in her 60s became the 16th casualty in a water-related incident while attempting to rescue her pet dog from the sea. Lancashire Police reported that she encountered difficulties in the water at Thornton-Cleveleys and, despite receiving immediate medical attention, she sadly did not survive.
