“21-Year-Old Apprehended for Attempted Murder in Northumberland”

A 21-year-old individual has been apprehended on suspicion of attempted murder following an incident where a vehicle veered onto a sidewalk and purportedly struck a pedestrian multiple times in Northumberland.

Law enforcement reacted to a call about a severe assault on Upper Barresdale in Alnwick around 6:40 pm on Friday.

Allegedly, a black Audi A3 swerved off the road and deliberately targeted a pedestrian before colliding with them and fleeing the scene. Emergency services arrived, and the pedestrian, a man in his thirties, was transported to the hospital with severe leg injuries, where he continues to receive treatment.

Northumbria Police initiated an inquiry and detained a 21-year-old suspect on suspicion of attempted murder. The individual is currently in police custody.

Detective Sergeant Adele Catlow remarked, “This incident is of a grave nature, resulting in significant injuries to the victim. While the investigation is in its early stages, we believe the parties involved are acquainted with each other.”

“We have made an arrest, and our officers will persist in conducting investigations in the vicinity to provide reassurance to the community. We urge anyone who witnessed the event or was in the area at the time to come forward.”
