Barbara Bartolome, a resident of Santa Barbara, California, has shared her extraordinary encounters with death. She vividly recalls “dying” twice in her life. The first instance occurred when she was just 18 months old, where she ceased breathing amid a severe fever, turning “purple and lifeless” before miraculously coming back to life. The second incident took place when she was 31 years old, during preparations for back surgery, where her heart stopped, leading her to witness medical staff desperately trying to revive her from an out-of-body perspective.
During her near-death experience, Barbara described feeling a sense of peace and love, detached from her physical body. She sensed a divine presence next to her, which she interpreted as God, offering her comfort and acceptance. Despite the surreal nature of the experience, she felt a profound connection and a newfound understanding beyond earthly comprehension.
In December 1987, Barbara underwent a laminectomy discectomy procedure, which resulted in a life-threatening mishap when an X-ray technician inadvertently caused dye to enter her brain. This incident led to her consciousness drifting away, observing the medical team’s frantic efforts to save her. Despite the allure of the spiritual realm, Barbara felt compelled to return to her body, driven by her responsibilities as a mother to her young children.
As she grappled with the decision to return to life, Barbara experienced a pivotal moment where she pleaded for another chance, which coincided with a surgeon reviving her through a cardiac thump. Upon regaining consciousness, she found herself back in her body, astonishing the medical staff with her recovery.
Barbara’s near-death encounters have profoundly influenced her perspective on life and spirituality. She believes that her experiences were orchestrated to guide her towards personal growth and transformation. Embracing her newfound purpose, she seeks to normalize discussions around near-death experiences and the profound insights they offer.
Reflecting on her journey, Barbara emphasizes the importance of connecting with the spiritual realm and nurturing a deeper relationship with the divine. She envisions death not as an end but as a continuation of the soul’s journey towards growth and fulfillment. Through her story, Barbara aims to inspire others to embrace the guidance from the “other side” and explore the profound mysteries of existence.
