“Prince William Named Patron of SAS Charity”

Prince William has been named as the new patron of an SAS charity following his longstanding commitment to the armed forces.

The upcoming King will assume this role with the Special Air Service Regimental Association (SASRA), which serves as the charitable branch of the UK’s elite special forces unit.

In his fresh position, the Prince of Wales will serve as the primary figurehead for the organization. William enrolled in the Royal Military Academy in Sandhurst after finishing university in 2005, where he completed a 44-week Officer Cadet course before becoming a British Army officer in December 2006.

He then joined the Household Cavalry (Blues and Royals) as a second lieutenant, leading a troop of four Scimitar light tanks and was later promoted to lieutenant. In 2008, the Prince underwent attachments with the Royal Air Force and Royal Navy, gaining flying skills for his subsequent roles as a search and rescue pilot and air ambulance volunteer. He currently holds various official military positions, including Colonel-in-Chief of the Army Air Corps (AAC) and Colonel of the Welsh Guards.

William’s new role with SASRA focuses on supporting the Association’s welfare mission, encompassing fundraising efforts and providing aid to active personnel, veterans, and their families. This appointment, considered a significant accomplishment for the 43-year-old, ensures the regiment receives royal support in caring for its soldiers and their families in the long term.
