Police Clear Edinburgh Street After Concern for Individual

Police have cleared a street in the heart of Edinburgh and advised the public to stay away from the area. The authorities shut down the busy street in Edinburgh city center on January 9, deploying several police response vehicles to the scene.

“After a report of concern for an individual, Cowgate in Edinburgh has now reopened,” stated Police Scotland Edinburgh on social media platform X. They expressed gratitude to the public for their cooperation during the incident.

No further details were provided by the police regarding the nature of the incident. Earlier, police had cordoned off the street on George IV Bridge near the Central Lending Library and the National Library of Scotland.

Cowgate was temporarily closed, disrupting nightlife in two of Edinburgh’s busiest streets. Traffic cones were placed to block access from the Royal Mile while officers dealt with the situation.

Local residents were urged to avoid the area as police responded to a concern for a person incident on Cowgate. The Mirror has reached out to Police Scotland for additional information.
