Jake Paul’s Fight Against Gervonta Davis Amid Abuse Allegations

Jake Paul’s promotion company has issued a statement following allegations against Gervonta Davis, Paul’s upcoming opponent, of battery, false imprisonment, and kidnapping by an ex-girlfriend. The exhibition fight between Paul and Davis is scheduled for November 14 in Miami, despite their different weight classes. The bout will not impact their professional records, but a winner will be determined by stoppage or judges if the fight goes the distance.

The accusations against Davis have led to calls for the fight’s cancellation. Reports indicate that Paul has considered Ryan Garcia as a replacement for Davis, but Most Valuable Promotions, Paul’s company, has stated that no decision has been made yet. The company stated that they are investigating the civil lawsuit filed against Davis and are committed to making a thorough and respectful decision once all information is gathered.

Davis has not responded to the accusations, but his trainer Calvin Ford dismissed them as baseless. The lawsuit alleges that Davis assaulted his ex-partner at her workplace and had threatened her previously. The ex-partner claims to have been physically assaulted and choked by Davis on multiple occasions, seeking damages of $50,000 and a jury trial.

Although Garcia was initially considered as a replacement, his promoter Oscar De La Hoya clarified that the fight would not happen due to contractual obligations. Paul may delay his return to the ring until December and has been linked to Anthony Joshua in the past. However, securing a deal on short notice is unlikely.
