Emergency Responders Injured in Essex Crashes

Three police officers and two paramedics were rushed to the hospital after being involved in two crashes on the A130 in Essex.

The incident occurred when the emergency responders stopped to assist a Nissan X-Trail that had crashed on the A130 around 12:15 am on January 10. While attending to the initial accident, they were struck by a van. Essex Police reported that three individuals have been arrested in connection with the collisions.

Chief Superintendent Morgan Cronin expressed concern for the injured emergency workers and their families, assuring that they are receiving support from the police force. He emphasized the ongoing nature of the investigation and urged the public to refrain from speculation, allowing the investigative teams to gather facts.

Those arrested are currently in custody, with inquiries progressing swiftly. Essex Police called for any witnesses or individuals with dashcam footage of the incidents to come forward to aid the investigation.

The individuals arrested include a 23-year-old man from Canvey suspected of various offenses related to dangerous driving and substance impairment, a 29-year-old man from Westcliff facing similar charges along with drug possession, and a 39-year-old man from Canvey accused of dangerous driving and driving under the influence.

One paramedic and one police officer sustained serious injuries and are hospitalized, while the other injured personnel are also receiving medical attention.

The A130 is closed between Sadlers Farm roundabout and the A1245 due to the collisions. Essex Police advised motorists to avoid the area and provided updates on the road closure as the investigation progresses.

The police force stated that a single-vehicle collision occurred in the early hours of January 10 near Sadlers Farm roundabout on the A13, leading to the involvement of emergency responders and subsequent collisions.

Drivers are urged to stay informed about road closures and plan their journeys accordingly. The authorities thanked the public for their patience during the investigative process and promised further updates on the reopening of the affected road sections.
