Taylor Ruck Wins Gold in 200m Backstroke at World Cup

Taylor Ruck, a 26-year-old swimmer from Kelowna, British Columbia, clinched the top spot on the podium for Canada in the women’s 200-meter backstroke event during the second leg of the World Aquatics Swimming World Cup series. Ruck clocked a time of 2 minutes 2.41 seconds to secure the gold medal. The United States’ Anna Peplowski claimed the silver with a time of 2:02.71, followed by Japan’s Waka Kobori in third place at 2:06.99.

Ruck, a four-time Olympic medalist, also earned silver medals in the women’s 100-meter backstroke and 50-meter freestyle earlier in the competition. In total, Canada amassed seven medals in Tashkent, including one gold, three silver, and three bronze.

The World Cup series will wrap up its final meet next week in Kazakhstan.
