Canadian swimmers Taylor Ruck and Finlay Knox expanded their medal collections on Friday at the second leg of the three-meet World Aquatics Swimming World Cup series in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Ruck, a four-time Olympic medalist hailing from Kelowna, B.C., clinched the silver in the women’s 100-meter backstroke with a time of 56.38 seconds, coming in behind Dutch swimmer Marrit Steenbergen who finished in 55.32 seconds. Ruck secured another second-place finish on Thursday in the 50 freestyle event.
Knox, representing Okotoks, Alta., claimed the bronze in the men’s 200 individual medley, clocking in at one minute and 52.33 seconds, trailing Americans Shaine Casas and Carson Foster. This marked Knox’s third bronze medal following his third-place achievements in the 100 butterfly and 100 individual medley events.
The competition in Tashkent will come to a close on Saturday, with live streaming available at 9 a.m. ET on CBCSports.ca and CBC Gem. The World Cup series will wrap up next week in Kazakhstan.
