For the upcoming general election, Elections Quebec announced that voter information documents will be provided exclusively in French to align with Quebec’s updated language laws. The materials typically sent out before voting day will contain a QR code directing individuals to the agency’s English website for access to information in that language.
Elections Quebec specified that only Indigenous voters and individuals eligible for English instruction can request documents and services in English. Legislation enforcing French as the primary language for public institutions was enacted in 2022.
Voters are expected to receive their provincial election guide and voting location details by the week of September 14, with reminder cards scheduled for mailing out by the week of September 28. The election is slated for October 5.
