“Family Seeks Donations for Hey Duggee Bench Memorial”

The family of a two-year-old boy is seeking donations for a commemorative bench inspired by the child’s favorite TV show following his tragic passing after a swimming pool incident in Spain.

Hartley Wareham, the sibling of Exeter City forward Jayden Wareham, passed away recently. During the inquest that commenced this week, it was disclosed that Hartley’s father retrieved him from the water, initiated CPR, and called for medical assistance.

Emergency responders managed to revive him before he was transported to the hospital where he received extensive care on life support. Unfortunately, his health deteriorated, leading to his passing five days later.

To honor Hartley’s memory, his father, Darren Wareham, has launched a fundraising campaign on JustGiving to create a unique Hey Duggee memorial bench in remembrance of his son.

Describing their little one, the fundraiser expresses, “Our beloved Hartley left us at the tender age of 2. In his brief existence, he brought immeasurable love, joy, and laughter into our lives beyond imagination.”

The memorial bench, dedicated to Hartley’s adoration for Hey Duggee and his enjoyment of exploring and playing in the garden, will serve as a special place for the family to cherish his memory.

Darren mentioned that instead of flowers or gifts, donations towards the memorial would be a meaningful tribute to Hartley. Any surplus funds will be allocated to grief counseling to aid the family in moving forward together, with over £3,500 already contributed.

Exeter City FC has endorsed the fundraiser, showing solidarity with Jayden during this challenging time and requesting privacy for the Wareham family.

The club expressed its support, stating, “The Wareham family is fundraising for a bespoke Hey Duggee Bench in memory of their son Hartley, who tragically passed away at the age of two. The bench will provide a special spot for them to remember the precious moments shared with him.”

The family conveyed their gratitude, saying, “We deeply appreciate your kindness, generosity, and support. The outpouring of love for Hartley and the preservation of his memory mean the world to us. Forever cherished. Forever missed. Forever our little boy.”
