A man sought refuge in the bathroom after being pursued around a residence by two women, one of whom was the mother of his child, before sustaining injuries from both of them. Warren Harper was socializing with his ex-partner Demi Oliver, 26, and Kelly Rees, 36, when the incident occurred.
Residents nearby reported hearing loud arguments and music following a night of drinking at a property in Precelly Place, Wales. According to Wales Online, the trio were acquainted and lived in close proximity, with Oliver and Harper having a previous relationship and a child together.
The altercation, dated July 27, 2024, involved a frightened Harper being chased within the property, eventually barricading himself in the bathroom while being accosted by Oliver and Rees at the door. During the confrontation, Rees, under the influence of crack cocaine, brandished a knife, causing Harper to sustain a cut on his wrist when attempting to retrieve his belongings.
Subsequently, Harper was also wounded by Oliver, who wielded a different knife. Prosecution barrister Dean Pullen informed Swansea Crown Court that Harper attempted to flee but encountered Rees armed with a knife in the kitchen. Harper managed to escape the house with severe bleeding after a struggle.
Harper was rushed to Withybush Hospital in Haverfordwest for treatment of stab wounds to his arm and wrist, requiring surgical intervention. Both Oliver and Rees pleaded guilty to unlawful wounding during their sentencing at Swansea Crown Court, where their barristers presented mitigating circumstances.
Despite the incident occurring two years prior, Judge Huw Rees emphasized the severity of Harper’s injuries, resulting in immediate custodial sentences for both defendants. Oliver, from Precelly Place, Milford Haven, received a 17-month jail term, while Rees, residing in Waterloo Road, Hakin and already serving a sentence for robbery, was sentenced to an additional 27 months in prison.
