A 70-year-old woman, described as a close neighbor of a British mother-of-four, has been accused of murdering Karen Carter, 65, in Trémolat, France. The suspect, who remains unnamed, was taken into custody on suspicion of premeditated murder according to Jacques-Édouard Andrault, the state prosecutor in Périgueux.
Allegations suggest that Carter, who was in the process of divorcing her husband and involved with a retired executive, may have been targeted due to relationship conflicts. Two individuals, including a nearby neighbor, were initially arrested but later released without charges.
Despite suspicions, the woman charged with murder has denied any involvement. Both she and another individual linked to the case have provided DNA samples to authorities, none of which matched the forensic evidence at the crime scene.
The suspect, who is under judicial supervision, is prohibited from residing in Trémolat. Investigators are working to solve the case, as Carter’s family believes they have an idea of who is responsible. Their attorney mentioned ongoing efforts to ensure justice is served for the victim.
