A leopard caused panic when it entered a shop in India and attacked a worker. The wild animal strayed from a nearby forest into the building in Todaraisingh, Rajasthan. Co-workers screamed as the leopard suddenly leaped on a man, who struggled to shake it off before fleeing over a table.
The leopard roamed inside the store, knocking over items, until authorities arrived. During a nearly five-hour operation, the leopard injured three people before being tranquilized and removed. The adult male leopard first attacked a forest volunteer, then ventured into a market and the liquor shop.
The volunteer, Rakesh Mali, sustained leg injuries while inspecting the area. Another worker, Fateh Lal Koli, and a man named Sanjay Gurjar were also injured. Koli and Gurjar managed to trap the leopard inside the shop by closing the shutter. Mali received first aid, while the injured workers were taken to a medical facility.
Investigations are ongoing to determine how the leopard strayed into the urban area. Leopards, apex predators, typically avoid humans unless provoked or threatened. They are known for their strength and agility, being capable of dragging prey twice their weight and reaching impressive speeds and jumping distances.
