A significant fire erupted on Arthur’s Seat in Edinburgh yesterday, and firefighters are still working to contain the blaze as of this morning. The fire, which started near the Palace of Holyrood House around 6:30 pm on Sunday, prompted the deployment of four fire engines from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.
Visible from the nearby Scottish Parliament, a large plume of smoke could be seen rising from the hill, adding to concerns amid Scotland’s dry conditions and ongoing wildfires in the Cairngorms area. This incident follows a previous fire on Arthur’s Seat in August of the previous year.
As of 6:30 am on Monday, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service had six fire appliances on-site, responding to the initial reports received at 6:38 pm on Sunday. Meanwhile, road closures have been implemented in the vicinity to support the firefighting efforts.
