The mother of convicted murderer Vickrum Digwa has been sentenced to three years in prison for removing the knife used in the killing of Henry Nowak from the crime scene.
Kiran Kaur, aged 53 and residing on St Denys Road in Southampton, was found guilty of assisting an offender by taking the murder weapon back to the family home on the night of the crime, which occurred on December 3, 2025. Digwa, 23, had been sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 21 years on June 1 for the murder of Nowak, an 18-year-old finance student. He had falsely accused Nowak of racially abusing him.
During the sentencing at Southampton Crown Court, Judge William Mousley KC criticized Kaur for not intervening in her son’s actions and instead concealing the knife in his bedroom among other weapons, thus aiding in the cover-up of the crime. The knife used in the murder was identified as a 21cm (8in) blade.
