Liz Truss criticized her own party, accusing it of being “ideologically captured” by “DEI” and labeling business individuals who choose not to enter politics as “cowards.”
Her remarks were made during a passionate speech at CPAC GB, a British version of the large pro-Trump conference in the US that she is hosting in London. Truss expressed frustration over the frequent turnover of British Prime Ministers, highlighting that there have been seven Prime Ministers in the past decade, likening it to a struggling football team constantly changing its manager without improving performance on the field.
Notably, five of the seven recent Prime Ministers have been from the Conservative Party, with Truss having the shortest tenure among them. When questioned about the Conservative Party’s alignment with true conservatism, Truss pointed out that the party had been ideologically hijacked, specifically mentioning the influence of DEI within its central office.
While advocating for establishing “parallel institutions” and “parallel media” to counter perceived left-wing bias in the civil service, Truss urged successful individuals who have shied away from politics in favor of finance or other fields like bitcoin to join her cause. She emphasized the need for these individuals to lead various key institutions such as the immigration department, foreign office, and local police forces.
Expressing disappointment at the lack of a well-organized pool of individuals supporting the right-wing movement, Truss called for successful Britons who care about the country’s future to step up and stop avoiding political engagement. She criticized those who opt out of politics, asserting that their achievements would be meaningless if the nation deteriorates, labeling them as cowards for not taking a stand.
Teasing that she would disclose names in the future, Truss acknowledged the risks associated with entering politics, emphasizing the challenges involved.
Despite her efforts, Truss’ CPAC GB event faced low attendance, with only a fraction of the hall’s capacity filled. The event stirred controversy within the Conservative Party regarding the participation of Conservative MPs alongside Reform Party members like Suella Braverman and Layla Cunningham.
Additionally, Truss predicted that Andy Burnham would not remain the Labour leader until the next General Election and warned of an impending financial crisis under his leadership. She expressed concerns about the country’s spending, migration issues, and overall stagnation, forecasting a change in leadership before 2029.
Truss also voiced unease about the restrictions imposed during the COVID-19 pandemic, criticizing the willingness of people to comply and report on others.
