“Mother’s Involvement in Son’s Tragic Death Revealed”

A mother who killed her five-year-old son, later found in a river, participated in a pre-inquest regarding the child’s tragic death. Angharad Williamson, 34, observed the session remotely from HMP Downview in Surrey, where she is serving a minimum of 28 years for the murder of Logan Mwangi.

The young boy was discovered with 56 external injuries, a torn liver, and brain trauma after enduring severe abuse at his residence in Bridgend, South Wales. Despite Logan having previous injuries including a broken arm, collarbone, and skin burns while under social services’ care, authorities did not respond to these warning signs.

In addition to Williamson, her former partner John Cole, 41, and stepson Craig Mulligan, 14, were also convicted of Logan’s murder. Cole disposed of the boy’s body in the River Ogmore, a location near their home, where he frequently dumped waste materials.

A preliminary review of Logan’s death commenced at Pontypridd Coroner’s Court with the presence of representatives from local health authorities, social services, and South Wales Police. Despite Williamson’s denial of the murder, evidence revealed her active involvement at the time of Logan’s body disposal.

Following an unsuccessful appeal attempt, Williamson seeks further review of her conviction with the assistance of a former senior police officer. Details from the trial disclosed the harrowing abuse Logan endured before his tragic demise, depicting a grim picture of his final days living in confinement and subjected to mistreatment by Williamson and Cole.

Medical experts likened Logan’s injuries to those from a significant fall or high-speed traffic accident. Williamson, Cole, and Mulligan received life sentences, with Williamson facing a minimum of 28 years in prison. Another hearing related to Logan’s death is scheduled for November.
