Passengers on a Ryanair flight were left in a state of panic when a suitcase was sucked out of a cabin window mid-flight, as they frantically tried to save a man who was partially pulled out of the aircraft at 20,000 feet. The incident involved Ljubiša Karović from Serbia, who was traveling with his wife, Svetlana Grković, on a Ryanair flight on July 10. The pilot detected an engine issue over North Macedonia, prompting a return to Thessaloniki.
During the descent, a damaged engine part broke off, shattering a cabin window and causing Ljubiša to be partially sucked out due to the intense wind pressure. His wife managed to hold onto his feet while three other passengers assisted in pulling him back inside. In a desperate move, fellow travelers attempted to block the broken window with available luggage.
Svetlana expressed gratitude to the heroic passenger who aided in saving her husband’s life, describing the terrifying moment when part of the engine hit the window near her husband’s seat. Ljubiša sustained severe injuries, including the inability to speak, friction burns, severe shock, and hand injuries. He remains hospitalized for treatment.
A statement from Ryanair confirmed the incident, stating that the flight returned to Thessaloniki after the window dislodged in-flight, with one passenger receiving medical attention. A replacement aircraft was arranged to transport passengers to their destination.
