During my recent stay at a Premier Inn, dubbed the ‘UK’s poshest Premier Inn,’ I was immediately impressed by the hotel’s offerings even before reaching my room. Premier Inn, the UK’s largest hotel chain owned by Whitbread, is renowned for providing comfortable accommodations in over 800 locations across the country, boasting more than 85,000 rooms. The brand is famous for its affordable prices, luxurious white bedding, and the memorable Lenny Henry commercials.
To cater to a broader audience, Premier Inn has expanded its offerings with Zip by Premier Inn and hub by Premier, offering smaller rooms at lower prices. Despite their more compact size, these accommodations do not compromise on comfort. One hub, located in a former Victorian Old Bailey in central London, has gained a reputation as the ‘UK’s poshest Premier Inn,’ with its stylish interiors resembling that of an independent boutique hotel.
The hub by Premier Inn London Farringdon (Old Bailey) hotel stands out in London’s competitive hotel scene due to its unique location within the historic Snow Hill Police Station, a Grade II-listed building from the 1870s. The hotel seamlessly blends its original Victorian features with modern interiors, offering affordable rates starting from £75 per night. From the grand entrance with its historic police lantern to the enchanting white-tiled stairway, the hotel exudes a sense of heritage and sophistication.
Upon arrival, I was greeted by a modern reception area, signaling a departure from the building’s historic past. The hotel features a communal lounge adorned with elegant furnishings where guests can relax, a bar serving drinks, and a dining area offering breakfast and late-night snacks. I stayed in a standard room that maximized its 11sqm space efficiently, providing storage options, a compact desk area, and a well-designed bathroom with green tiles.
The room’s décor included a double bed against the wall, adorned with a London map, and clever storage solutions such as shelves and plug sockets. The lighting and air conditioning were electronically controlled, adding to the room’s convenience. Despite the room’s compact size, I felt comfortable and secure during my stay, appreciating the blend of history and modern comfort.
Staying at this former police station turned Premier Inn was a unique experience, offering a glimpse into the brand’s upscale offerings. With rates starting at £75 per night, the hub by Premier Inn London Farringdon (Old Bailey) provides an affordable yet luxurious stay.
