US President Donald Trump has finally spoken following his country’s elimination from the FIFA World Cup, hosted on home turf, but refrained from addressing the match outcome. The US team suffered a 4-1 defeat against Belgium in the round of 16 on Monday, July 6, in Seattle.
Trump made remarks regarding the United States Military’s strength and accomplishments, emphasizing unprecedented recruitment achievements and heightened morale. He praised the military’s prowess showcased during the celebration of American Independence and emphasized the need for continued support by passing Reconciliation 3.0 with a significant allocation of $350 billion for defense alongside the SAVE AMERICA ACT.
While Trump discussed the SAVE AMERICA ACT, he notably avoided mentioning the national team’s World Cup loss. This development occurred subsequent to his conversation with FIFA President Gianni Infantino regarding a red card issue involving USMNT’s top striker, Folarin Balogun.
Trump advocated for a review of the red card received by Balogun in the Round-of-32 game against Bosnia and Herzegovina, which should have led to his suspension for the subsequent match against Belgium. However, following discussions between Trump, Andrew Giuliani, and Infantino, the automatic suspension was deferred.
FIFA confirmed the suspension of the punishment on Sunday, permitting America’s top goal-scorer to participate. Trump expressed gratitude to FIFA via Truth Social for rectifying what he deemed a significant injustice.
