A man and a child are in critical condition following a gas canister explosion inside a vehicle in West Yorkshire. The incident occurred at approximately 2.15pm on Sunday outside the Hare and Hounds Inn on Liley Lane, Mirfield. Emergency services found five individuals in the vehicle, comprising four children and a man.
All occupants sustained severe burns and were transported to the hospital for medical care. A 43-year-old man and an eight-year-old girl sustained life-threatening injuries. The other three children are believed to have sustained injuries that will significantly impact their lives. West Yorkshire Police stated that there are no suspicions of foul play as investigations continue.
According to Yorkshire Live, the explosion, which took place near Huddersfield, was the result of a gas canister detonation inside a tipper truck. Air ambulance teams were dispatched to the scene following the explosion report.
West Yorkshire Police issued a statement indicating that inquiries are ongoing, with no indications of any suspicious circumstances.
