“Rainy Weather Sweeps Across UK After Heatwave”

A bout of rainy weather is predicted to impact 21 regions across the UK on Tuesday, signaling a significant shift following the recent heatwave.

The UK forecast for Monday night from the Met Office indicates that heavy rain accompanied by brisk winds will move into the northwest region. Meanwhile, other areas can expect drier conditions with clear skies, leading to a fresh night for many residents.

According to the weather service, Tuesday will see cloudy skies in the north and west, with showers likely to develop. The north may experience heavy rain at times, with a possibility of thunderstorms, while the southeast is expected to remain drier.

The Met Office anticipates a rise in temperatures in the southeast from Wednesday through Friday, with dry and sunny conditions on the horizon. Conversely, the northern and western regions will continue to experience cloud cover, occasional rainfall, and temperatures hovering around the average mark.

This weather pattern follows a heatwave that shattered the UK’s June temperature record for three consecutive days, culminating in 37.3C recorded at Santon Downham in Suffolk on June 26. Several other weather stations also surpassed the previous record of 35.6C, set on June 28, 1976, and June 29, 1957.

Met Office chief forecaster Andy Page emphasized that Friday marked the peak of the heatwave in terms of temperatures, with June witnessing unprecedented heat levels. He highlighted this exceptional heat as a clear indicator of climate change influencing temperature extremes in the UK.

Last week, Wales established a new June daily maximum temperature record, hitting 35.9C at Bute Park, Cardiff, on June 25. Northern Ireland matched its warmest June day on record with 30.8C at Castlederg on June 25, equaling the figure recorded on June 30, 1976.
