Emergency services are currently conducting a search for a young boy who was observed struggling in the water in Salford. The incident occurred at the River Irwell in Clifton Country Park, prompting the deployment of specialized police divers this morning. Greater Manchester Police confirmed that they received a distress call regarding the boy’s situation on Saturday afternoon and that the search operation is ongoing.

Following the incident on Saturday evening, an emergency response is in progress. The location in question is near a sandy area close to a bridge over the River Irwell within the park. Reports indicate that a teenage boy entered the water with a group of youngsters, while a teenage girl was rescued from the river by her companions. The girl is reportedly safe but deeply affected by the incident. Another boy who entered the water was able to extricate himself during the event.

Search teams have been seen assessing the river conditions from a bridge this morning. Although the park remains open to the public, certain pathways have been cordoned off as a precautionary measure.
