A tragic incident occurred on the M40 in Warwickshire resulting in the death of a woman and severe injuries to a man in a multi-vehicle crash. The emergency response was swift, with services arriving at the motorway around 10.50pm on Sunday, leading to lane closures causing traffic congestion between Junction 16 at Hockley Heath and Junction 15 at Warwick.
The West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS) confirmed the woman’s death at the scene, while the man, in critical condition, was promptly taken to University Hospital Coventry. Additional medical attention was provided to two other men at the crash site.
A spokesperson from WMAS stated that upon arrival, emergency crews found the woman deceased, and despite efforts, she could not be revived. They also attended to the seriously injured man before transferring him to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire under urgent conditions. The two other men involved were treated for minor injuries and released at the scene.
