“Fatal Fire at Dominican Republic Resort Claims Italian Tourist”

An Italian visitor has passed away, and nearly 1,700 vacationers were evacuated following a significant fire that swept through a high-end resort in the Dominican Republic.

The fire ignited at the Viva Dominicus Beach by Wyndham in Bayahibe on Friday. Situated on the southeastern coast of the Caribbean country, the resort is a favored spot for US and global travelers.

Officials reported that Francesca Valentino, aged 46, lost her life in the fire, with approximately 1,690 vacationers relocated from the resort to alternate accommodations due to the extensive blaze.

The Emergency Operations Centre of the Dominican Republic mentioned that the fire appeared to have spread quickly due to wind conditions and the presence of a thatch roof on part of the resort. Fortunately, the fire has now been contained.

The neighboring resort of Viva Wyndham, the Dominicus Palace, remained untouched by the fire and continued normal operations, according to the center.

Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the fire.
