“Violent Disturbance in Anfield Leaves Man Stabbed”

A man was swiftly taken to the hospital after being stabbed in the face during a significant disturbance in Anfield. Police responded to reports of a stabbing at the junction of Oakfield Road and Walton Breck Road around 12:45 pm today.

Video footage of the incident, widely shared on social media, depicted a large group of men armed with metal poles. The video showed two groups of men engaging in physical altercations, with individuals, including police officers, trying to intervene.

Several weapons were found in the area following the incident, as per reports from Liverpool Echo. The victim received initial treatment at the scene before being transported to the hospital. His current condition is unknown.

Five men, aged between 19 and 20 from Buckinghamshire, Wigan, and Galway, have been apprehended on suspicion of various offenses, including wounding with intent, affray, and possession of a bladed item. They are currently in police custody for further investigation.

Merseyside Police have implemented a dispersal order and a Section 60 stop and search authorization to prevent any potential future incidents. The authorities cover a broad area including Priory Road, Breck Road, Breckfield Road North, Robson Street, Sleepers Hill, Anfield Road, Walton Lane, and adjacent streets within the defined boundary.

The orders grant officers the authority to direct individuals causing or likely to cause disturbance to leave the area and stay away for up to 48 hours. Non-compliance may lead to arrest. The Section 60 order gives officers enhanced stop and search powers to reduce the risk of further violence.

Superintendent Kris Le Poidevin emphasized that disorder will not be tolerated in Merseyside. The police will maintain a visible presence to address any issues promptly and offer reassurance to residents. The additional powers granted aim to combat intimidation, anti-social behavior, and violence to ensure public safety.

To report a crime, individuals can contact the Merseyside Police social media desk or visit the website. Alternatively, they can call 101 or provide information anonymously to Crimestoppers.
