Russian President Vladimir Putin is reportedly deeply concerned about the threat of assassination, prompting him to relocate his two older daughters to his heavily guarded forest estate valued at £1.4 billion. The 73-year-old Kremlin leader is said to be increasingly anxious due to the lack of progress in the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and the deteriorating Russian economy.
In response to his fears, Putin has initiated urgent assessments of Russia’s surveillance camera network amid apprehensions of potential hacking by adversaries to monitor his movements from the Valdai Palace. Despite residing in a highly secure residence in the Novgorod region with his partner Alina Kabaeva and her two children, the President has taken additional security measures, including deploying armed guards and anti-missile systems to safeguard against external threats.
Recent incidents, such as a drone attack on St. Petersburg during a trade forum, have heightened Putin’s concerns about his safety, leading to heightened security protocols. The Russian leader has been unwilling to engage in direct talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky following public criticism, exacerbating tensions between the two nations.
The assassination of Iranian Ayatollah Khemenei has further fueled Putin’s fears, prompting him to bolster security measures to prevent similar attacks. Despite calls for a ceasefire and negotiations with Ukraine to end the conflict swiftly, Putin has resisted such efforts, opting to enhance security arrangements instead.
Reports indicate that Putin’s daughters, Maria Vorontsova and Katerina Tikhonova, have joined him at the Valdai palace for added protection, emphasizing the estate’s high level of security, including a modern bunker. While Maria and Katerina have relocated to the secure complex, Putin’s third daughter, Luiza Rozova, is believed to be primarily based in Paris.
Putin’s ex-partner Svetlana Krivinogikh, the mother of his daughters, has pursued a successful career following their separation. Vorontsova, an endocrinologist, and Tikhonova, with a background in dance, are actively involved in various fields, contributing to Russia’s scientific and technological advancements.
The ongoing conflict in Ukraine, which commenced in February 2022, has taken a significant toll on Russia, resulting in substantial military casualties and economic challenges. The continuous infiltration of Ukrainian drones into Russian territory has further strained the Kremlin’s resources and infrastructure.
As tensions persist, Putin remains resolute in his approach to the conflict, prioritizing security measures to protect himself and his family amidst growing threats and geopolitical pressures.
