Mother of Nottingham Attack Victim Seeks Meeting with Keir Starmer

The mother of a 19-year-old victim in the Nottingham attacks is seeking a meeting with Keir Starmer, alleging that Valdo Calocane escaped justice for the killings. Emma Webber, mother of Barnaby, expressed disappointment in the justice system’s handling of Calocane, a paranoid schizophrenic who admitted to manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility after killing three people and attempting to kill three others on June 13, 2023.

Webber criticized various agencies, including NHS mental health services and the police, for failing to prevent Calocane’s actions. She emphasized that the decision to allow Calocane to plead to manslaughter instead of facing a murder trial deprived the victims and their families of justice and truth in a court of law. Webber highlighted overlooked evidence of Calocane’s history and behavior, questioning the prosecution’s handling of the case.

Demanding a meeting with government officials, including the Prime Minister, Attorney General, Home Secretary, Health Secretary, and Justice Minister, within a month, Webber stressed the need for accountability for Calocane’s actions. James Coates, son of another victim, Ian, echoed the sentiment, denouncing the failures of institutions like Nottinghamshire Police and the NHS in addressing the situation. Coates vowed to pursue full accountability to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
