The family of a 35-year-old man who tragically passed away after being found with stab wounds in a garden in east London has paid tribute to him as a “beautiful spirit” who brought happiness and positivity to all those he encountered.
Mark Orabiyi was discovered in the garden of a property on Rayleigh Road, Silvertown, Newnham, following a police response to reports of a stabbing in Pankhurt Avenue around 9 am on Friday, as reported by the Metropolitan Police. Despite efforts by paramedics, Mr. Orabiyi was declared dead upon arrival at the hospital.
Another man in his twenties, who also sustained stab wounds, is currently receiving medical treatment in the hospital. Fortunately, his injuries are not considered life-threatening or life-altering.
In a heartfelt statement, Mr. Orabiyi’s family described him as a cherished son, brother, uncle, and friend who brought love, light, and joy into their lives and the lives of others. They expressed their gratitude for his kindness, beautiful spirit, and exceptional talents, stating that his memory will forever hold a special place in their hearts.
Following the incident, a murder investigation has been initiated, and three individuals have been apprehended on suspicion of murder by the Met Police. While a 27-year-old man has been released on bail pending further investigation, a 24-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman have been released without further action after being questioned.
Detective Chief Inspector Joanna Yorke, leading the Met’s investigation, expressed condolences to Mark’s family and urged anyone with information or potential footage related to the incident to come forward to assist in the investigation.
The Met Police confirmed that they had responded to a call on Friday morning reporting a stabbing in Pankhurst Avenue, E16. Upon arrival, they found the victim, a 35-year-old man, with stab wounds in a nearby garden. Two men, aged 27 and 24, and a 25-year-old woman were arrested near the scene on suspicion of murder and remain in police custody.
In addition, a man in his twenties who was also injured in the incident is hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. The Met’s Specialist Crime Command has launched a murder investigation into the tragic event.
