“UK Nationals Arrested in Spain for Paralyzing Shooting”

Spanish authorities have apprehended two UK nationals in connection with a brutal attempted murder that left a British man paralyzed from the neck down. The suspected shooter was seized while trying to board a flight to Edinburgh at Alicante airport, with a woman also taken into custody as she attempted to enter Spain.

Both individuals are believed to be associated with a violent criminal group hailing from the UK. The victim, a 27-year-old man, sustained life-altering injuries after being shot outside his residence in Santiago de la Ribera near the La Manga golf resort, in the presence of his girlfriend.

He narrowly escaped death thanks to quick intervention by police officers who applied first aid to stop the bleeding. Although initial reports suggested he was left tetraplegic by a masked assailant who fled the scene in a vehicle, this detail has not been officially confirmed by authorities.

Subsequently, a vehicle matching the description of the suspect’s car, containing a silenced firearm, was discovered abandoned and set ablaze in a tunnel on the nearby AP-7 motorway. The Civil Guard revealed the arrests after an extensive investigation into the incident on November 18, 2024.

Investigators found incriminating evidence within the burnt vehicle, including the gun used in the attack, ammunition, a balaclava, and gloves. UK police collaborated with the Civil Guard during the probe, with the first arrest occurring in April and the second in May, though details were only recently disclosed by Spanish authorities.

A Civil Guard spokesperson disclosed that the arrests were made during Operation Esbroya 24, indicating that the detained individuals were part of a violent UK-based criminal organization that specifically traveled to the Murcian coast to target and kill the victim.

The victim, identified only as Aaron, was swiftly taken to Virgen de La Arrixaca Hospital in Murcia after the shooting, where he underwent extensive treatment. The attack, occurring at approximately 8:30 pm, resulted in Aaron being shot multiple times, including in the back.

Witnesses initially mistook the gunshots for firecrackers before emergency services arrived at the scene. Initially believed to be Ukrainian, it was later confirmed that the victim was a British national. Local reports suggested that he had relocated from Torrevieja to Santiago de la Ribera due to conflicts with a criminal group.

A healthcare worker mentioned that the incident appeared to be a vendetta, indicating that the victim had sought refuge in Santiago de la Ribera to evade troubles with a Torrevieja mafia group. The individual survived due to none of the shots striking vital organs.
