“Police Seize Harmful Pyramid Rings Destined for Appleby Fair”

Police are preparing to dispose of numerous pyramid rings confiscated in a dawn raid, citing their potential to cause harm to individuals. Cumbria Police announced the seizure of 99 rings destined for the Appleby Horse Fair in Appleby, Westmorland, and Furness during an operation conducted at 1 am yesterday. The police displayed an image of the seized rings, featuring a gold band topped with a pyramid, emphasizing their potential for harm.

The head of security for the Appleby Horse Fair, scheduled from June 4 to 10 this year, commended the proactive efforts aimed at ensuring the safety of all attendees. Dan St Quintin, the Gold Commander for the fair, stated that seizing and destroying these rings before they could be sold was a crucial preventive measure against potential injuries.

The recent crackdown is part of ongoing efforts during the fair, with authorities seizing counterfeit goods and air weapons on the first day. A joint operation between Cumbria Police and Westmorland and Furness Trading Standards led to the discovery of realistic weapons, including BB pellets, vapes, children’s toys, and perfumes in a van en route to the fair’s trading areas.

In a stern warning, officials stated that individuals attempting to bring knives or fake firearms to the fair would be promptly removed from the premises. The collaboration between police and Trading Standards will continue to monitor the event closely to ensure compliance with safety regulations and prevent the sale of unsafe or illegal items.

Catherine Hornby, the Trading Standards manager for Westmorland and Furness Council, expressed satisfaction with the successful joint operation, which prevented the circulation of counterfeit goods and ensured the removal of hazardous items from the market fields at the Appleby Horse Fair.
