Gaza Critic Escapes to Italy for Safety

An outspoken critic of Hamas shared his daring escape from Gaza and his new safe haven in Italy. Moumen al-Natour, who previously risked his life in Gaza, now resides in a peaceful Italian town after a harrowing journey to safety.

Al-Natour recounted his perilous ordeal under Hamas rule, enduring torture and frequent arrests. Despite his initial resolve to challenge Hamas, the relentless threats and violence pushed him to seek refuge outside Gaza.

With meticulous planning, he navigated dangerous territories between Hamas and Israeli forces, aided by a resolute Italian lawyer who secured shelter for his entire family. Al-Natour, still fearful of Hamas’s influence, emphasized the need for discretion regarding his current whereabouts.

Reflecting on his past, he recalled numerous encounters with Hamas militants, including raids on his home and the intimidation of his family. Al-Natour’s advocacy for Gaza’s rights led to his unjust imprisonment and physical abuse by Hamas forces.

Expressing gratitude for his safety in Europe, Al-Natour remained committed to shedding light on the Gaza crisis. He advocated for new governance in Gaza, emphasizing the importance of dismantling Hamas’s control for lasting peace and prosperity.

Looking ahead, Al-Natour envisioned a future of mutual understanding and cooperation between Palestinians and Israelis. He urged for educational initiatives promoting peace and reconciliation to foster a generation free of animosity and conflict.

Al-Natour’s unwavering dedication to nonviolence and peace has earned him recognition globally. He, along with his family, seeks refugee status in Italy, aspiring to continue his peace advocacy and contribute to Gaza’s future post-Hamas and Israel’s occupation.
