A woman in her eighties, Rose Tresadern, along with her son and daughter, recently won a £1 million jackpot by playing her deceased husband’s chosen lottery numbers. The fortunate family matched the winning numbers selected by Rose’s late husband, Derek, who passed away at 83 last year. Despite Derek’s death, Rose continued to play the numbers as a tribute to him.
Rose expressed her surprise at winning the substantial prize, stating that the numbers held sentimental value and now brought them luck. She felt that Derek was watching over them and would be thrilled by their windfall.
Discovering the win while alone at home, Rose immediately shared the news with her son, Barry, who was equally stunned by the unexpected fortune. The winning numbers for the draw were 1, 4, 12, 15, 39, and bonus ball 48.
With plans to move to a more suitable retirement home due to mobility issues, Rose mentioned her excitement for the comfort and independence the winnings would provide. She also intends to purchase a new engagement ring in memory of Derek, alongside taking care of her dog, Amira.
Barry and Julie, Rose’s children, are still deliberating on how to utilize their share of the jackpot. The National Lottery’s senior winners’ adviser congratulated the family on their win, noting the special significance of Derek’s chosen numbers leading to their success.
