Three individuals, including an 8-year-old child, have been hospitalized following an incident where a vehicle struck pedestrians before crashing into a motorway service station at Cardiff Gate services near junction 30 of the M4 around 11:45 am today, as confirmed by the police.
According to reports, a black BMW car hit individuals outside the service building before colliding with the main structure. A witness mentioned that about 15 people attempted to lift the car following the impact, resulting in the windowfront of the building breaking.
The witness suggested that the driver might have experienced a medical emergency due to the speed at which the vehicle entered the building. Emergency services are currently on-site to manage the situation.
In a statement, the South Wales Police mentioned, “We are currently dealing with an incident at the Cardiff Gate Services where a car collided with a retail premises on the site. Three individuals, including an 8-year-old child, a 39-year-old man, and a 76-year-old woman, have been taken to the hospital. Fortunately, none of the injuries are life-threatening.”
An investigation is underway, and individuals present at the scene are urged to come forward if they witnessed the incident, referencing case number 2600162925.
