A child, aged nine, was rescued from a one-meter-wide storage cupboard after being confined there for 15 days at a residence in France. Authorities discovered the youngster at the family’s house in Mérindol, Vaucluse, on Friday, May 22, and the stepfather was taken into custody.
Concerned about the boy’s well-being, an anonymous individual contacted the authorities. According to neighbors who spoke to France 3 Provence-Alpes, the child was frequently punished and excluded from family outings with his mother, stepfather, and three siblings.
Following the tip-off, the police visited the family’s small home in the village with a population of 2,000, where they located the child. Avignon’s public prosecutor, Stéphanie Aouine, stated, “The child was found by the police after the stepfather granted access to the home and confirmed his presence.”
